I’m Andy

I’m a freelance copywriter who helps nonprofits like you raise more money so you can do more good.

I stumbled into fundraising copywriting by accident.

I was volunteering for a youth mentoring organization and offered to write their year-end appeal letter. I’d never written a fundraising letter before, but I had some consumer sales experience and suspected it would be similar.

That letter brought in an overwhelming response—and over 80% of the donors were first time donors.

I was hooked.

Since then, I’ve spent over a decade writing direct response fundraising copy—mainly letters and emails—for clients across the country. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling, which helped me understand the most essential rule of good fundraising: people give from the heart. They want to feel part of something meaningful. That’s where I come in.

My goal is to help you tell your story in a way that moves donors to act—not just once, but again and again.

I approach every new client like the start of a long-term partnership. I want to know what makes your donors tick—what inspires them, what’s worked before, and what hasn’t. I dig into your past communications, look for patterns, and write every piece like it’s part of a larger donor conversation.

Whether it’s direct mail (my personal favorite), an email series, or a capital campaign case statement, I bring a mix of creativity, psychology, and experience to the table. My clients tell me I’m fun, easy to work with, and quick to respond—which I take as high praise.
